Nada Al-Maddah Saudi Gazette MAKKAH – Makkah Mayoralty has designed a plan to monitor grocery stores and supermarkets during the holy month of Ramadan to ensure that they are in compliance with required health standards. Inspection teams have been formed to pay visits to any stores whose activities are related to public health, said Muhammad Al-Fawtawee, director of the Environment Health Department, Makkah Mayoralty. Teams will check if workers have health cards and will focus on restaurants, grocery stores, supermarkets, cafeterias, barber shops, vegetable and fruit stores. Inspectors will also crack down on street vendors and hawkers who sell food stuffs. Different committees will be formed to monitor the activities of water and ice plants, farms, herbal medicine stores and vegetable markets.
