Khalid Al-Fares Okaz/Saudi Gazette RIYADH — Those undermining the security and stability of the Kingdom will be dealt with sternly, Prince Mite'b Bin Abdullah, Commander of the National Guard, has said. “We'll protect our national security at all costs,” he said. “We will not allow anyone to disrupt our unity or weaken our security and we'll defend this country with our hearts and souls and all that we possess,” Prince Mite'b said in an exclusive interview. Sounding a strong warning to the elements playing with the security fabric of the country, Prince Mite'b said strict measures would be taken against those attempting to sow the seeds of sedition. During the interview, Prince Mite'b talked extensively about the role of the National Guard in nation-building and the future plans of the elite security force. With regard to 20,000 vacancies created in the National Guard, Prince Mite'b said this was in line with the directives of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, to develop the strength of the various security organs of the country. “The government seeks to develop all its military sectors without exception; it's an ongoing process,” he said. All measures, he said, have been taken for the welfare of National Guard personnel. The government has established medical cities and hospitals for National Guard personnel all over the Kingdom, he said. “King Abdullah hopes to make the National Guard as advanced and sophisticated as other similar security institutions around the world,” Prince Mite'b noted.
