Abdulaziz Saleh Al SaghyirRIYADH – Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) posted a 22 percent in net profit in the second quarter of 2012 at SR1.42 billion from SR1.16 billion for the same period last year, Saudi Arabia's no.2 telecoms operator said in a statement Sunday. It increased 18 percent over Q1 2012 results of SR1.21 billion. Gross profit for Q2 2012 amounted to SR2.96 billion, as compared to SR2.48 billion for the same period last year, with an increase of 19 percent. Operating income increased 20 percent to SR1.47 billion from SR1.22 billion in the period under review. Net income for the first 6-month period amounted to SR2.63 billion as compared to SR2.16 billion for the same period last year, with an increase of 22 percent. Earnings per share for the first 6-month period amounted to SR3.76, as compared to SR3.09 for the same period last year. Gross profit for the first 6-month period amounted to SR5.57 billion, as compared to SR4.77 billion for the same period last year, or an increase of 17 percent. Operating income for the first 6 months of 2012 amounted to SR2.72 billion as against SR2.28 billion for the same period last year, or an increase of 19 percent. Revenues for the first half of this year amounted to SR10.69 billion as compared to SR9.61 billion for the same period last year, with an increase of 11 percent. Revenues for Q2 2012 amounted to SR5.68 billionas compared to SR5.13 billion for the same period last year, with an increase of 11 percent and an increase of 13 percent over Q1 2012 results of SR5.01 billion. Abdulaziz Saleh Al Saghyir, Chairman of Mobily Board of Directors, said the increase is due to growth in data revenue which has a high-margin. Data revenue reached 24 percent of the total revenue of the first half of 2012 (25 percent of the total revenue of Q2 2012).
