The Ministry of Education in Eastern Province has cancelled the appointment Lt. Col JA Rocque as principal-in-charge of girls section of International Indian School Dammam (IISD). He was appointed by the IISD managing committee earlier this year. Previously, several parents submitted a complaint to Mubarak Bubshait, supervisor of foreign schools of the Saudi Ministry of Education, opposing the appointment made by the school managing committee. Parents said the appointment had no basis because the IISD managing committee tenure of office already expired before it appointed Rocque. Both parents and faculty said they were pleased to hear about the cancellation by the ministry because of the improprieties made by the managing committee. The school was also infringing legally because Rocque had been designated as head of the female section of the school. Both the Central Board of Secondary Education based in India and the Saudi Education Ministry did not approve the operation of two principals on one school license. Both the Central Board of Secondary Education based in India and the Saudi Education Ministry do not approve of two principals for schools operating on a single license. Lt Col JA Rocque has joined IISD as Vice Principal just 8 months ago and has not even completed his probation period. No Annual Confidential Report (ACR) has been prepared over his performance for the term he served in IISD. The Indian ambassador to the Kingdom, directed the present School Managing Committee Chairman not to take any decisions which will have wide ranging effects during the intervening period. Embassy official R.N. Vats (Second Secretary E & C and Coordinator of International Indian Schools in the Kingdom) also sent an official letter to Managing Committee Chairman which clearly mentioned that “During the intervening period from now (9th June 2008) till new management committee takes effect, the existing committee should not take any major decisions and actions”. More than 7,500 students are studying in Girls section itself and most of the parents wish to have a female principal heading the female section instead of a male principal. __
