Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The Al-Balad Municipality has approved the licenses of more than 500 Ramadan stalls this year, said Sami Nawar, head of the Al-Balad Municipality in Jeddah. The stalls sell a variety of goods from dry fruit, incense, sweets, perfumes, mixed nuts and traditional pastries. Nawar said preparations and arrangements for Ramadan stalls started months ago and said all of the stalls have distinct features to attract visitors to traditional markets. The stalls, all run by Saudis including women, will be located in Jeddah's downtown district behind the Alawi, Gold and Al-Nada souks. Nawar appealed to stall owners to abide by the conditions of their seasonal licenses. He warned that the municipality's supervisors would not allow any unlicensed vendors to operate in the area during the holy month.
