SCHNEIDER Electric, the global specialist in energy management, welcomed the 50 finalists of its innovative challenge, Go Green in the City to Paris. The second edition of the challenge was held at the Schneider Electric group headquarters. Marcellye Miranda (Universida de Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil) and Igor Soares (Pontif?cia Universidade Cat?lica de Minas Gerais, Brazil) emerged winners for their idea "Green Light". The finalists, originating from Germany, Brazil, China, the US, France, India, RussiaTurkey and Poland, offered case studies to present viable solutions in energy management, for one of the following five essential urban issues: home, retail, hospital, university and water. France-based, SKEMA Business School and Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University participated in the grand finale. The competition reflects Schneider Electric's ambition to educate younger generations on the current global energy challenge. In addition to a job offer, the two winners of Go Green in the City 2012 won a trip around the world including a visit to Schneider Electric facilities to network with employees, high level management and senior executives. Furthermore, the finalists including 28 women had the opportunity to mingle with the jury, comprising senior leaders from Schneider Electric. The contestants were also interviewed for an internship, which if granted, can result in permanent employment. More than 550 teams representing 1,100 candidates from nine countries participated in the challenge. Scheduled to be held for three consecutive years, Go Green in the City 2011-12 have been greatly appreciated by the students. – SG
