year-old man suspected of killing a woman in an apartment on Sitteen street in Jeddah died Saturday, Al-Madina reported Sunday. He had been in critical condition after he attempted to kill himself after killing the 24-year-old girl in the Mushrefah district apartment on July 20. Another woman was present during the shooting but she escaped unharmed. On Wednesday doctors at Jeddah's King Fahd Hospital pronounced him brain dead. On Tuesday police cordoned off the building and fingerprinted everyone in the building to identify if anyone else was involved in the incident, according to an Okaz report. A source said most of the building occupants fled in panic after the shootings. The man's body has been placed in the morgue at King Fahd Hospital. The incident occurred before the man's wedding, which was set for Thursday in Taif. The woman who escaped said the incident was sparked by the man's jealousy over his fiancée of six years. The killer had moved into the building a day before the murder, the source said, adding that the killed woman's aunt lives in the same building. According to police, the victim had known the man for years and had accompanied her cousin to his flat. The three had breakfast together before a fight broke out and the man shot the woman in the hall. The other woman escaped uninjured to another room and as she yelled for help from the window the killer dragged the victim into a bedroom, covered her with a blanket, pointed the gun at himself, and pulled the trigger. Police have taken into custody the cousin and the aunt. The hometown of the man, the alleged killer, was stunned to hear the news. Several people there attested to the strong moral fiber of the man as well as his family.
