JEDDAH – UK-based KEFI Minerals announced Monday that its diamond drilling at Selib North Exploration Project in Saudi Arabia will kick off in the first week of July. The first phase of 2,000 meters of drilling will test the bulk tonnage potential at the four prospects before the drill rig moves on to test other phase-one targets at Hikyrin South. The company has plans for additional drilling on these two licenses and on any further licenses the company is granted in 2012. Earlier this year, KEFI reported that samples taken from the waste dumps of ancient mining at the Hykirin South area returned grades of up to 16.3 grams per ton (g/t) gold and an average of 5.9 g/t gold. At Selib North, samples taken from areas of new discoveries and of ancient mining graded up to 27.7 g/t gold and included an interval of seven meters at 1.18 g/t gold. Initial results from ongoing trenching in a new area from the main Selib North workings included six meters at 1.03 g/t gold and 17 meters at 3.43 g/t gold. – SG
