Australia's Ryan Briscoe captured pole position Friday for the Edmonton IndyCar Series race, edging Penske teammate Helio Castroneves of Brazil. Briscoe turned a fast lap of 1 minute, 0.7311 seconds in the Fast Six Shootout qualifying climax, clocking in at 116.955 miles per hour on the 1.973-mile circuit. Last week, Castroneves had earned the honors in qualifying in Ohio, but Briscoe went on to win the race ahead of his teammate. That marked Penske's first one-two finish since March 19, 2005. Spain's Oriol Servia nabbed third place, while series points leader Scott Dixon of New Zealand was fourth quickest in qualifying.
