Saudi chef creates new dishes at Knorr cooking event Chef Yousef Khumayes at the Knorr's cooking event. — Courtesy photosRenad Ghanem Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Knorr, one of the world's leading food brands, hosted one of Jeddah's biggest cooking event Wednesday at the Red Sea Mall. The event was graced by famous Saudi Chef Yousef Khuamyes and Chef Hani Zain. During the event Khumayes prepared many delectable dishes for the attendees and gave them essential cooking tips to retain the nutrients of the ingredients. Born to a Saudi father and Irish mother, Khumayes spent most of his growing up years in Jeddah. He left for Ireland when he was 14 and a couple of years later he left school in pursuit of his passion for culinary arts. “I started cooking when I was six years old.I did summer job and week-end job in restaurants in Jeddah. I went to complete my studies in Ireland, and I have worked in many five stars hotel like Seasons, The Berkley Court in Dublin, Elephant and Castle," said Khumayes. Khumayes was also a candidate of the Top Chef in the Middle East. “I got an opportunity to be in Top Chef –Middle East, and I even reached the finals. “Cooking is my hobby and I'm happy that my hobby is my job and I enjoy it," said Khumayes. Khumayes enjoys experimenting while he is cooking. He likes replacing in fruits with vegetables, putting fruits to salads and soups, among others. He likes to cook Italian food and use French cooking techniques. Khumayes has also spend a month and half in Thailand learning to cook Thai food. The Saudi-Irish chef is currently preparing to launch a show with Zain, another participant of the Top Chef-Middle East. In the event, the duo launched Knorr's new all-in-one seasoning powder which can be easily mixed into all kind of dishes and can be used in all types of cooking methods. The product has received a lot of positive response from the Saudi women.
