JEDDAH – The Red Sea Mall is close to entering the Guinness Book of Records by launching the largest ship made of styrofoam. Mohammed Alawi, CEO of Red Sea Mall, said the idea came to coincide with the Jeddah Festival 33 being held to promote and entertainment visitors of the city of Jeddah and to support the tourism industry in the bride of the Red Sea. He said the Red Sea Center hosts more than 12 recreational and sporting events since the start of Jeddah Festival, including children's face painting, the contest of the fastest painter, drawing beads, graffiti drawing, drawing and design cartoon characters contest, the most beautiful photograph, in addition to acrobatics, the best acted short scene, sport skills contests, and RC car racing that will last till the end of summer. Alawi cites some of the surprises, such as gifts and having a chance to win a car by visiting the mall shops starting this weekend for 4 weeks. The mall is also considered one of the main tourist stops of tourism buses that roam around most malls in Jeddah throughout the Jeddah Ghair festival. “The turnover for these activities and the ship reached around SR1.5 million and the event itself goes on for about 6 weeks,” he said. Building the lost treasure ship took a lot of effort and time, Alawi added. – SG
