Jilani acknowledged his association with the AMU and said he is proud of being an Aligarian. Students from Aligarh can be counted among the best in the country as AMU does not only provide education but teaches a way of life, Jilani said. He advised Aligarians in the Kingdom to support needy students in India for education in an organized way. Talking about the Babri Masjid, Jilani said that all those who are concerned about the case have done their best, though the final decision lies with the court. Jilani said that many prominent non-Muslim lawyers have represented the Muslim community in the court, who have provided a secular face to this fight. He stressed Muslims should get reasonable grants, according to their population ratio and as per the recommendations of Sachar Commission. Jilani appreciated the Samajwadi Party Govt. in UP for their positive approach toward the Muslim's problems. — SG
