NEW YORK — Jason Segel is happy playing “sad reality” roles. The comic star has carved out a successful Hollywood character playing wise-cracking down-to-earth guys in movies such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, The Five-Year Engagement and The Muppets. Jason has no desire to play perfect characters, insisting he will always choose to portray ordinary people with flaws. “There are two types of actor. One is the fantasy projection of who you wish you were, like a regular house husband who secretly worked for the CIA,” he explained to British newspaper The Times. “And the other is the sad reality of who you are. The guy who likes to watch TV and eats a little too much food and is having trouble in his relationship. That's what I do.” — Agencies
