Jay R. Gotera Saudi Gazette MANILA – Furious at his team's slow start, Mark Caguioa came out with all guns ablaze in the second half to power the Barangay Ginebra Kings to a come-from-behind 90-81 win over the Alaska Aces Friday night in PBA Governors' Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Caguioa scored 15 of his 22 points in the second half as the Kings notched their fourth win in seven games to tie sister team Petron Blaze at fourth to fifth place in the standings. Inspired by Caguioa's sizzling plays in the second half, the other Kings also caught fire with Enrico Villanueva coming off the bench to unload a personal conference-best 12 points in the period. KG Canaleta also waxed hot, chipping in nine points, all in the second half. The local Kings' superb plays on both ends of the court made up for the sub-par performance of import Cedric Bozeman who still managed to score 15 points. Already eliminated from the conference, the Aces appeared to be on their way to recording only their second win in eight games when they led by 17 points, 46-29, before the end of the first half. But the Kings finally woke up from their slumber at the start of the third quarter as they launched a searing 14-3 run to grab the lead, 55-54. The Kings were unstoppable from then on as Caguioa led a 14-3 blitz in the final quarter to pull away from the hapless Aces, 79-68, with 8:05 left in the game. Ginebra is now a win away from securing a semifinal berth. The Kings could secure that crucial victory on Sunday when they go up against the Talk N Text Tropang Texters on Sunday, or against the Barako Bull Energy next Friday. Jason Forte led Alaska with 20 points and 18 rebounds. However, the Kings' defense limited him to just seven points in the second half. Ginebra coach Siot Tanquingcen could only sigh with relief after the game. “It was an ugly first half," he said as his players scored only 10 points in the opening quarter and made just 12 of 38 shots in the first half.
