Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – Two women were arrested inside a shopping mall here Thursday after they attempted to steal the purse of a female shopper. The women were caught after the victim's husband notified the mall security. The victim said she noticed the women acting suspiciously and repeatedly coming close to her. She asked her husband to watch the duo without arousing their suspicion. When the woman placed her purse in her shopping cart, one of them quickly walked by and took the purse. The two then attempted to flee but the mall guards stopped them and searched. Three purses, including two stolen from other shoppers, containing more than SR4,000 in cash were retrieved. First Lt. Nawaf Al-Booq, spokesman for Jeddah police, said the two suspects were caught thanks to the swift intervention of the mall's security guards. He said the women were from Ethiopia and were residing illegally in the Kingdom. They will be handed over to the prosecution and eventually deported.
