US Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Thomas Williams held a meeting with Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU) Rector Dr. Issa Al-Ansari during a recent visit to the university. Members of the PMU academic leadership Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Nassar M. Shaikh, Vice Rector for Business Affairs and Development, Dr. Adel Al-Saleh, Vice Rector for Female Campus, Dr. Philline Deraney and other officials welcomed the Deputy Ambassador. "Relation between the Unites States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is enduring due to the visionary farsightedness of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz," said Williams during his meeting with the PMU rector. He said that Saudi Arabia is a fast emerging knowledge society today. "We have already started playing a pivotal role to groom our youth to be absorbed nationally and globally or to pursue further education and settle as professionals,' said Dr. Al-Ansari. Williams said universities like PMU have crucial roles to play especially when there is the King's patronage encouraging the new generation to pursue education in the US and Western universities. "Large number of Saudi students enrolled in the US convinces me that PMU can groom good cadres of youth which that country's leadership has envisioned," he said. Saudi Arabian youth deserve to be applauded for enrolling in basic training in the country's fast growing universities. They preserve cultural values wherever they go for education and employment. Williams appreciated the towering efforts of Rector Dr. Al-Ansari in whose leadership PMU has emerged as a modern Saudi university with a forward-looking American and Western curriculum. "This university prepares graduates to expand the role which Saudi Arabia plays in the Middle East and globally, besides nurturing talents for a better tomorrow," said Dr. Nassar M. Shaikh. "Saudi Arabia is no longer an isolated desert country but is rapidly assuming a greater role in the regional and global community," said PMU's Dean for Preparation Program and Director of Professional Development, Dr. Desmond Rice. He said "PMU is a modern university whose academic system has a broad appeal."
