Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation, chaired by Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal and vice chaired by Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, is sponsoring a program to train Saudi women as sales clerks and shop supervisors, in cooperation with Alnahda Women's Charitable Society. The project represents the shared goals of the Foundation and Alnahda toward economically empowering Saudi women. The move comes in support of the Ministry of Labor's decision to employ women in sales jobs, especially in lingerie shops and shops selling women's accessories. An entire team of specialists and experienced instructors under the direct supervision of Alnahda will train the participants to become potential employees in different areas of sales and shop management. Alnahda has already trained 130 female employees and shop supervisors in sales skills, basics of accounting, marketing, customer service, performance assessment and computer skills. The training also covers basic English related to sales and customer service. Alwaleed Foundation's Women Empowerment Initiative, overseen by Nora Al-Malki, Executive Manager of Local Projects, aims to support the greatest number of institutions that are active in raising awareness of women's rights in the Kingdom. The initiative also supports vocational training programs for aspiring career women across various fields besides helping women with limited income to gain skills in handicrafts making. Furthermore, the initiative honors women leaders by highlighting their success stories in society with the aim of creating role models for young Saudis. The program includes various groups of women — from post-graduates to those with no formal education.
