The Egyptian Embassy in Riyadh has cautioned the community against dealing with unapproved schools offering to teach the Egyptian syllabus inferring that such schools operate under the supervision of the embassy. The warning came in response to advertisements placed on the Internet and other media in the hope of luring prospective pupils. An embassy statement said the Ministry of Education had not officially informed the embassy about the names of the schools that have been approved to teach the Egyptian syllabus in the Kingdom. The embassy will officially inform the community when the ministry specifies the schools. It urged the community to ignore any notification or information not issued by official press bureau of the embassy. About two months ago the Kingdom gave the go-ahead to allow the Egyptian syllabus to be taught in major Saudi cities to children of Egyptian expatriates, whose number is estimated at more than 1 million.
