The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia entered the Guinness World Records for not just one but two causes and that too because of the efforts of Rola Maimani, a young and active Saudi television program designer and broadcaster for Ajyal Saudi television. The first record was achieved when Maimani helped organize and promote a charity campaign titled Their Success is Your Future – to collect donations for backpacks and other school supplies to be distributed to children of low income families. A total of 50,000 different school supplies were collected including 2,500 backpacks, which were dropped off by good doers from all members of the society. The second record that won Saudi Arabia a place in the Guinness World Records was for making the largest school bag that was made by the Saudi luggage company, Omasu. The largest school bag in the world was placed on display amidst the excited crowd of children and parents in the Mall of Arabia. The enormous backpack's height was 10 meters with a width of 7 meters and breadth of 4 meters. “This event was successful beyond all expectations. I wish to thank all volunteers and sponsors who participated in the event. I am happy and proud of our achievement in recording Saudi Arabia in the Guinness Book of World Records for a noble humanitarian cause,” said Maimani.
