More than 20 female teachers found themselves unemployed when the owner of a private school north of Riyadh decided to shut down the school, according to a report in Al-Riyadh newspaper. Speaking over the phone, one of the teachers said they were shocked to learn the school had suddenly been closed. “The salaries did not exceed SR2000 a month but now we are left to face an uncertain future.” Another teacher said that this problem is repeated every year when private school owners decide to close schools for one reason or another without cautioning the teachers and employees. She called for strict measures that will protect their jobs. “It is very difficult now especially since I am the only one supporting my family. Some of my fellow teachers have loans and other payments that they have to make every month,” said the teacher who called on the Ministry of Education to help them find jobs in other schools.
