Former Egyptain president Hosni Mubarak was issued regulation blue prison uniform Sunday, a day after being sentenced to life and taken to a jail that once housed his opponents. Guards in the Cairo Tora prison took his official jail photograph and supplied him with his prisoner number, state news agency MENA reported. Prison authorities turned down his request to continue receiving treatment from doctors at a military hospital where he was detained while on trial for involvement in the killings of protesters during last year's uprising. Meanwhile, thousands of Mubarak opponets occupying Cairo's Tahrir Square called for a second uprising; this time against the court verdict sparing the 84-year-old leader's life. Some of the demonstrators slept in tents or out in the open overnight on the vast intersection, epicenter of the 18-day revolt that forced Mubarak to resign in February last year. “We intend to stay today and possibly tomorrow. We expect a lot more people to come during the day,” said Omar Abdelkader, a young protester in Tahrir. “Many people had the feeling while listening to the verdict that we were back in the days of the old regime,” said student Feda Essam, another protester. — Agenciesafter a night of rage against what they feel were lenient sentences handed down to Mubarak and his security chiefs. __
