England earned its second straight victory under Roy Hodgson Saturday, while European Championship co-host Poland and Denmark also had winning tuneups. Danny Welbeck scored his first international goal in the 36th minute to give England a 1-0 victory over a talented Belgium team at Wembley and ensure that it enters Euro 2012 with a perfect record under Hodgson. England beat Norway by the same score last weekend. But England also had injury concerns over defender Gary Cahill who had to go off after clattering into his own goalkeeper Joe Hart when he was shoved in the back after 17 minutes by Dries Martens who was booked for the challenge. Poland swept aside lowly Andorra 4-0 in Warsaw after three first-half goals in its last pre-Euro friendly, while Denmark beat Australia 2-0 at home. Croatia, however, had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Norway after Tarik Elyounoussi equalized in injury time for the host. Striker Eduardo da Silva had given Croatia the lead in the 79th. On Friday, however, Italy's troubles mounted as it produced some slapstick defending in a 3-0 defeat by fellow Euro 2012 finalist Russia in their only warm-up match for the tournament. The game at the Letzigrund in Zurich was played against the backdrop of a match-fixing scandal back home that prompted Italy coach Cesare Prandelli to say he would not mind his side pulling out of the European Championship if it was the right move. Friday's performance was a defensive nightmare for Italy, which conceded only twice in 10 games during qualifying, with Russia's second and third goals coming from defensive mix-ups involving substitute goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis. Italy had created more chances in the opening hour but its rearguard always looked shaky and it fell to pieces when Russia, which could have scored three times ahead of the break, went ahead through Alexander Kerzhakov just before the hour. Roman Shirokov then added two late goals. Euro 2012 co-host Ukraine was also beaten 3-2 by Austria in Innsbruck Friday in its penultimate warm-up friendly. In Prague the Czech Republic also suffered a 2-1 home defeat. Adam Gyurcso netted a late winner for the visitor Friday. Hungary opened the scoring after just six minutes when Balazs Dzsudzsak's quick free kick from just outside the penalty area caught the Czechs out. The host equalized with a Michal Kadlec penalty midway through the first half.
