Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC), received at his office in Riyadh Steven Joyce, Minister for Economic Development, Minister of Science and Innovation, Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment of New Zealand and an accompanying delegation that included Rod Harris, New Zealand Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. The meeting was attended by Dr. Nahla Alanbar, Private Executive Assistant to the chairman. They discussed a number of issues and ways to further strengthen economic relations between their respective countries. Joyce invited Alwaleed to seek investment opportunities in the country in light of the Prince's various investments regionally and globally. Alwaleed welcomed Joyce's and promised to consider these opportunities for further study. The Prince's investment in New Zealand through KHC is in the financial sector through Citigroup. Alwaleed also said that currently there are over 7,500 Saudi students studying in New Zealand, and added that Saudi Arabia was the second largest diplomatic mission in New Zealand. Joyce also thanked Alwaleed for his recent donation through Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation-Global (registered in Lebanon) to the victims of the earthquake that struck New Zealand in 2011. Alwaleed said the Alwaleed Foundation will continue its support in times of need.
