Abdullah Ruhaimi, President of the Civil Aviation Authority, has signed an agreement with the Governor of the General Organization for Technical Education and Vocational Training (GOTEVT) defining mutual cooperation in national manpower development. Capt. Muhammed Berenji, assistant president of the Aviation Authority for Aviation and Safety, said the agreement is meant to establish a channel of cooperation since GOTEVOT is potentially capable of giving training in rare specializations not taught currently in Saudi universities, such serial control, navigation law and air navigation. Dr. Fahd Al-Tuwejeri, GOTEVT's deputy governor, said the agreement is in line with organization's aim of entering into partnerships with the private and public sectors, especially for the establishment of specialized and professional institutes. He said agreement lays the ground for the establishment of an air navigation institute in Jeddah, which would enable the Presidency to train nationals on air navigation within the country instead of sending them on scholarships abroad as is the case now. Capt. Berenji said similar institutes would be established later in Riyadh and Eastern Province. Dr. Al-Tuwejeri said the organization has also established channels of cooperation with other companies like Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority, Supreme Commission for Tourism, and insurance companies. These agreements were for establishing institutes to develop skilled manpower for manufacturing household appliances, automobile spare parts and products from plastics. These are specializations in high demand locally, he said. The establishment of these professional institutes is separate from the government's SR13 billion initiative to develop existing institutes, he said. __
