Residents of Nakhlan Village in Jazan have not forgotten the story of the Italian man who passed through their village thirty years ago while chasing a deer and decided to embrace Islam and marry a young shepherdess. However, after 2 years of marriage during which the couple had 2 sons, he left the village never to be seen again. “Anglo was chasing a deer with his car. I was 14 years old when he saw me herding sheep. He came again to buy a deer from my father,” his Saudi wife said. “He saw me again and after a few days he came to our house and asked for my hand,” she added. Her father was reluctant in the beginning but succumbed to Anglo's repeated appeals and agreed to the marriage on one condition: Anglo should embrace Islam. And embrace Islam he did. Without hesitation, Anglo traveled to Riyadh and came back with a certificate showing that he had become Muslim. “He was a very kind-hearted and generous man,” the wife reminisced. After their second son, Anglo left the house after one of his compatriots came and talked to him about something “we didn't know.” “Before leaving us, he began sobbing uncontrollably and told me that his family didn't approve of the marriage and didn't want him to be Muslim. He left and never returned.” Two years later, the wife continued, a Sudanese man visited the village carrying a message from Anglo saying that he wanted a picture of his two sons. However, the wife refused the request and sent the messenger back. Abdul Rahman and Naeem, Anglo's sons, said they want to know any information about their father and whether he was still alive. They said they have tried searching for him but their attempts have been in vain. __
