HRH Crown Prince Sultan, who is also Chairman of the board of directors of the General Authority of the Civil Aviation, graced the signing of a contract worth SR513 million with a French company for development of King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah. Abdullah Bin Muhammed Noor Rahemi, the Authority's president signed the contract with Pierre Graff, chairman and CEO of Airport de Paris Ingenierie (ADPI). Under the contract, designs and engineering services for the first phase of the development project of King Abdul Aziz Airport in Jeddah will be carried out. Railway station The first stage of the contract includes designing a railway station complex adjacent to the air-travel terminals and multistory parks. It also covers general planning for maintenance, designing of the roads leading to the terminals, and commercial investment areas. Created in 2000, ADPI is one of the world's leading architecture and engineering firms that designs and develops airport platforms as well as major infrastructures across the globe. ADPI provides comprehensive planning, architectural design, engineering services in addition to project management and on-site supervision services for airports and other large-scale public facilities. The contract, for a 14-month duration, includes preparation of detailed designs and engineering services for the new terminals complex, which will replace the northern and southern terminals and allow the airline companies, including Saudia, to work under one roof. It also includes 42 gates linking the complex with 74 flyovers serving all types and sizes of aircraft, a new control tower measuring up to the latest international specification, general planning of the new cargo village with a capacity to handle about three million tons yearly, and parking lots for 2,500 cars. __
