Abu Dhabi ready to rock 'n' roll
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 23 - 05 - 2012

DJ Benny Benassi to perform live with MadonnaAbu Dhabi — All music lovers and concertgoers of the Middle Eastern region get ready to rock, as American entertainer Madonna once again performs live at Abu Dhabi's Yas Arena on June 3 and 4 — accompanying Madonna is the legendary DJ Benny Benassi.
Italian national Benassi, 44, started disc-jockeying in the 80's and his debut single track “Satisfaction” from his album Hypnotica released in 2002 was an enormous success and peaked music charts all over the world, taking over the sphere of electronica.
Young-spirited and witty as his tempo in house beats, Benassi is supercharged with excitement to perform alongside Madonna for his diehard fans, who will groove to the duos classic, contemporary hits and fresh house music.
The concert is part of Madonna's World Tour 2012 for her 12th album MDNA for which Benassi has produced three tracks “Girl Gone Wild”, “I'm Addicted” and “Best Friend.”
Benassi spoke with Mariam Nihal of Saudi Gazette about his favorite music and his first ever concert with Madonna in the Middle East next month.
SG: How do you feel about performing with Madonna in the UAE?
Benassi: Really honored. I'm greatly looking forward to it.
SG: What makes this concert different from your previous performances?
Benassi: Well, I'm a support act for the biggest pop icon in the world! So, it's definitely different from what I normally do.
SG: Are you looking for something special this time on your trip to the UAE?
Benassi: I always look for that special vibe when I connect with the audience and the atmosphere is just right. I really want to hit that vibe on these shows.
SG: How has the electronic dance music scene changed since “I Feel So Fine” to your latest “Spaceship”?
Benassi: It's grown enormously. DJs have become “personalities” and the technology for DJs has changed a lot.
SG: Which of your three tracks on MDNA is your favorite and why?
Benassi: This is one of those questions I never know how to answer because I change my mind every day, according to my mood. I really like all the three, that's the truth. Right now, it's the single, “Girl Gone Wild” but it could change in half an hour!
SG: What is your favorite track at the moment?
Benassi: There are lots. I really like “Monolith” by Congorock, who is a friend and works with us.
SG: Is there anyone you want to collaborate with at this point?
Benassi: Still many people out there I'd be honored to work with.
SG: Any message for your fans in the UAE?
Benassi: Thank you so much for all your support. You are the people who have made my career possible and I appreciate that!
