Faculty members of King Saud University (KSU) will get an additional SR43 million in the form of university-funded scholarships and grants to study both locally and abroad in a variety of specializations and fields. KSU President Prof. Abdullah Al-Othman approved the extra benefits faculty members have called for to facilitate their graduate and PhD studies and research work. The initiative was implemented to motivate the staff. “Lecturers, demonstrators and language teachers are studying for the sake of the university and the development of our educational system, so giving them extra benefits is the least we could do,” said Ebrahim Jarallah, an official of KSU. The SR43 million will be dispersed by the end of May to the 1405 male and female faculty members who have received university scholarships and grants. Each faculty member will get a percentage according to his or her field of research. Faculty members were pleased with the president's recognition and support. “Our mission is to provide our country with the best knowledge-based educators and we want to give future generations the best education right in the heart of the Kingdom,” said Ghada K., a biochemistry lecturer at KSU and a doctoral researcher at Boston University. __
