Jeddah Police have arrested a Nigerian con artist who duped a father into believing that he could treat his disabled daughter. The man, who was also found in violation of residency regulations, claimed that he had super healing powers and could treat children with disabilities. He tricked the father into paying him SR48,000 to start the treatment of his physically-disabled daughter. A few days after the father had paid the man, he vanished and switched his phone off leaving the father in a state of further despair. Realizing he had been tricked, the father then reported the incident to the police and the con artist was arrested after police conducted an extensive search of the area where the Nigerian man preyed upon poor parents looking to treat their children's disabilities. Brig. Mesfer Al-Juaid, Jeddah Police spokesman, called upon the general public to be more vigilant and not fall victims to con artists who claim they can do impossible things. He also urged people to report anyone who uses fraudulent methods to steal money. __
