Sweden's Richard S. Johnson birdied three of the last four holes on Sunday to claim a one-shot victory in the US Bank Championship in Milwaukee for his first win on the PGA Tour. Johnson's sizzling finish gave him a six-under-par 64 for a 16-under-par 264 total at Brown Deer Park golf course. American Ken Duke shot 65 for 265 to finish second. The victory provided Johnson, ranked 612th in the world, a top prize of $720,000. The 31-year-old Swede, who had missed eight of 11 cuts this season, had earned just $48,000 on tour coming into the event. “It's just amazing,” he told reporters about notching his first US Tour title. Tied for third at 267 were Americans Dean Wilson (65), Chad Campbell (65) and Chris Riley (66). Johnson, who scored an ace on Thursday to lead after the opening round with a 63 and also shared the 36-hole lead, got off to a bumpy start with bogeys at the second and fourth holes. The slender Swede, however, posted seven birdies from the sixth hole on to push past a crowded leaderboard that late in the round had nine players within one stroke of the lead. Finishing strong, Johnson knocked his tee shot at the par-three 11th within four feet, showed great touch with a chip at the 15th for a tap-in birdie and firmly rolled in a 12-foot, left-to-right curler for birdie at the 17th to seize the lead. Johnson sealed victory with a laser second shot at the par-five 18th, where his fairway wood nearly hit the flag before settling at the back of the green. A two-putt birdie ensured victory. Victory put Johnson into the next major, the US PGA Championship next month at Oakland Hills. Red-hot Kenny Perry, who had three wins in his previous five events, charged to the finish with four birdies and an eagle when he holed out from 145 yards with a nine iron at the 16th, but his 64 left him on 268, four shots back. Australians Gavin Coles, 39, and Nick Flanagan, 24, shared the overnight lead but could not keep up the pace. They both registered even-par rounds of 70 for 269, five shots behind. Oh gets 1st LPGA win In Springfield, Illinois, Oh Ji-young, playing on the US LPGA Tour for the second year, won her first tournament Sunday, sinking a 6-inch putt for par to win the State Farm Classic in a playoff over rookie Yani Tseng. A day after the tournament lost its marquee player, Michelle Wie, to disqualification, the sudden-death playoff injected life into what had been an ordinary final round. Oh and Tseng finished regulation at 18-under par. Tseng, the leader coming into Sunday, chipped her third shot over the green and into the rough, then pitched her ball to about 6 feet from the cup. But Oh's third shot, from just inside the rough, left her with the tap-in that gave her the win. Tseng, who shot a 66 in each of the first three rounds before her even-par 72 on Sunday, said after her loss that her nerves got the best of her Sunday. Choi Na-yeon finished in third place at 17 under for the tournament after shooting a 4-under 68 Sunday. On a day dominated by youth, Chinese Feng Shanshan shot a 9-under 63 - the second best round of the tournament along with Christina Kim's first round - and finished the tournament at 16 under par, tied for fourth place with Stacy Prammanasudh and Han Hee-won. Wie was disqualified after she finished her round Saturday - a 5-under-par 67 that had her a stroke off the lead - for failing to sign her scorecard a day earlier. Wie was chased down by a tournament volunteer after she left the course at the 9th hole without signing her card, something required by golf's rules. LPGA officials say they didn't learn about Wie's miscue until after play started Saturday morning.
