Engineers of Spanish manufacturing company KapH have discovered 11 technical defects on the five new trains, which have been out of service for the last week, the Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) said in a statement. Most of the faults relate to the programming system which control the key functions of the train. However, KapH emphasized that 70 percent of the technical defects have already been repaired. The SRO statement confirmed that KapH has only received partial payment for the new trains. The remainder – 45 percent of the total SAR612 million value – will not be paid until a successful trial of the existing fleet and the timely delivery of the remaining three trains. __
