The people in the province of Qurayyat woke up to the news Thursday that the murderer of the eight-year-old boy who was burnt to death had been arrested. Security forces had originally taken the accused into custody shortly after the boy's burnt body was discovered. However, the father of the victim, requested that the suspect be released when he denied any involvement in the crime. The father did not believe that one of his neighbors would commit such a heinous act against his young child. But a day after his release, security forces arrested the neighbor again after more evidence surfaced. Upon further interrogations, the suspect buckled under the compelling weight of the new evidence; and he eventually admitted to his crime. The relieved community posted the news through BBM, WhatsApp and other social media channels. Sources revealed that the offender is expected to represent his crime after the legal ratification of his confession. Col. Muflih Al-Thalg, spokesman of Al-Jouf Police, confirmed the confession to Al-Watan newspaper. Al-Thalg added that investigation is still on to determine the circumstances leading up to the boy's disappearance and the motives of the accused for committing such a dastardly act.
