Prince Khaled Al-Faisal announced plans to develop the Souk Okaz region Saturday, located 40 km north of the summer resort of Taif, into a cultural and intellectual center. Speaking to reporters after inspecting the historical site of the souk, the Emir said the development plan for the site would be announced during the inauguration of the ‘Souk Okaz' festival this summer. On the opening day, visitors will see a replica of the project for the development of Souk Okaz, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal said. He said the Saudi leadership has given utmost importance to the historical market, which dates back to 500 BC. Taif Governor Fahd Bin Muammar briefed Prince Khaled on preparations for cultural programs at Souk Okaz this summer.
