This summer men and woman will have the chance to learn new skills as part of summer festival series in 20 different cities across the Kingdom. The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) recently announced its fourth summer festival program, which will introduce the courses for women ranging from embroidery to interior design. “We want young people to utilize their time in an educational atmosphere,” said Waleed Felimban, Summer Festival Program supervisor, TVTC's branch in Jeddah. “We believe it is part of our social responsibility.” Felimban hopes to use the summer festival to bolster confidence in technical training in the Kingdom. “There are a total of 90 technical institutes in the Kingdom at present. These institutes aim to produce well-trained manpower and we expect the number of institutes to reach 200 in the next few years.” The TVTC will have several programs on a number of wide ranging issues “We are targeting younger children to educate them about social dangers such as the dangers of drugs,” he said. “We also want to encourage children to speak on-stage and boost their self-confidence.” TVTC hopes to use large shopping centers to host their educational programs. “These places are frequented by almost everyone, especially tourists who come from outside Jeddah,” Felimban said. “In fact, we plan to cover all of Jeddah through the various malls located in different parts of the city.” Felimban said he hopes that the messages from TVTC will be reinforced through families. Saudi Scouting Association and the General Commission for Tourism and Antiquities have joined with TVTC in order to organize these events. Boy Scouts are often employed across the Kingdom to manage events with large crowds. __
