Emergency and safety departments will soon be set up in all education administrations around the country, said Muhammad Al-Dakhini, spokesman of the Education Ministry. Prince Faisal Bin Abdullah, Minister of Education, has ordered that two departments be set up to protect students, staff and school property, said Al-Dakhini in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Wednesday. The departments will oversee the drafting of annual strategic plans for emergency, safety, evacuation, fire and rescue drills, he explained. They will enforce all Civil Defense policies and periodic inspections of schools, and also keep schools posted on weather conditions and other vital information sent by the concerned authorities. They will devise crisis management plans and coordinate with other ministry departments to provide training to cope with potential crises.
