Captain Virender Sehwag produced an unbeaten knock of 87 as Delhi Daredevils scored a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Pune Warriors to remain on top of the Indian Premier League Tuesday. The hard-hitting opener stroked three sixes and 10 fours off 48 balls as Delhi scored 148-2 in only 16 overs after restricting Pune to 146-2 at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium. Delhi thus avenged its 20-run loss to the same side three days ago, and now has 10 points after five wins from seven games. Pune has four wins from eight games. The other game scheduled for Tuesday — between Kolkata Knight Riders and Deccan Chargers at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata — was abandoned due to rain without a ball being bowled. The washout gave both teams a point each. Kolkata is now second behind Delhi at nine points with four wins and a no-result from eight games. Deccan got its first point in six games as it had lost all its first five games. Three people, meanwhile, suffered minor injuries after a temporary stand at the Eden Gardens collapsed because of rain. IPL Chief Executive Sundar Raman confirmed on his Twitter page that three people had been injured in the incident but that they were now “all back home.” Scores: Delhi Daredevils 148-2 in 16 overs (Virender Sehwag 87 not out, Kevin Pietersen 27) def. Pune Warriors 146-2 (Manish Pandey 80 not out, Robin Uthappa 60 not out).
