New construction projects worth SR1 billion for Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh and King Khaled University (KKU) in Abha were signed here Tuesday morning by Dr. Khalid Al-Anqari, Minister of Higher Education. One of the contracts will be for new facilities and female student projects at Imam University. For KKU, there will be new sports facilities including a 10,000-capacity stadium. In a statement following the signing, the minister said these projects will develop the infrastructure of Saudi universities, to create an excellent academic environment and help grow the economy. He thanked King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and the Crown Prince, for supporting higher education. At the beginning of this year, the minister signed contracts for construction at university hospitals and academic centers worth over SR4 billion. __
