The International Medical Center announced Sunday a SR22.8 million deal with the Knowledge Economic City in Madina to build a hospital over 20,000 square meters at KEC. Dr. Walid Fitaihi, CEO of IMC, said: “The hospital was founded on a vision of pioneering a unique approach of healing the body, mind, and soul by applying the best global healthcare standards and divine ethics. All board members agree that we should not expand just for the sake of expansion. So it is with great pleasure and Allah's blessing that the first expansion we make outside Jeddah is in the beloved City of the Prophet, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah.” The hospital will be only 5 km away from the Prophet's Mosque. “It will be a great honor to serve pilgrims and visitors to the Prophet's Mosque, and to provide the highest quality of healthcare to Madina's residents,” Fitaihi said. “We are happy to partner with the Knowledge Economic City and be a part of the vast developments underway in this sacred city,” he added. The proposed Knowledge Economic City is being currently designed to become a pinnacle of knowledge and economic activity. Tareq Talamsani, CEO of Knowledge Economic City, said: “We hope this deal will be a new addition to the knowledge, development, and research of Knowledge Economic City.” The hospital's design will be themed on the concept of healing and will incorporate Islamic architecture. “It will be more of a horizontal expansion than a tall building. We plan to operate out-patient clinics and one-day surgeries in three years' time, till we gradually start other hospital services as well. We are working with the Ministry of Health to determine the pressing healthcare needs of Madina's residents,” Dr. Emad Al-Jahdaly, the project manager, told Saudi Gazette. __
