Prisoners involved in drug smuggling may be moved to other prisons outside their home regions if necessary, said Major General Dr. Ali Hussein Al-Harithy, Director General of Prisons. He said discipline is vital for an effective prison system. Records are kept of all prisoners' disciplinary violations. Al-Harithy said all such cases are overseen by the Ministry of Interior and the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution. Coordination takes place with the prisons' administrations and the Anti-Narcotics Administration. Al-Harithy's comments come after Hail prison officials seized 81 stimulant drugs from a visitor who tried to smuggle them to an inmate inside the General Prison. The prisoner was punished by excluding him from the King's pardon list. __
