JEDDAH – After winning the second round of qualifying tournament for Red Bull Car Park Drift competition in its 3rd season in Jeddah, Abdulhadi Al-Qahtani joins his colleague Hatim Natto, winner of Riyadh's round, to represent Saudi Arabia in the final tournament in Beirut this summer. Amid a considerable public presence of more than 15,000 spectators who filled the car parking area of Red Sea Mall in Jeddah, Al-Qahtani clinched the title on board his Ford Mustang car. First place winner Al-Qahtani received the trophy from Prince Abdulaziz Turki Al-Faisal. Mohammed Al-Orabi came second in Chevrolet Lumina SS ca and Faisal Al-Sharif finished third in Hyundai Genesis Coupe car. The jury panel was comprised of Red Bull driver and rally champion Abdo Feghali, and delegate of Saudi Automobile Federation Elie Samaan, Prince Abdulaziz Turki Al-Faisal, champion of Porsche GT3 Middle East Challenge, and Abdullah Bakhashab, the renowned Middle East rally champion. Participants' performance evaluation was primarily based on their drifting that shows their skills in using handbrakes, accurate turning at high speed, and fiercest roaring of engine, strong tires spinning, as well as the audience reaction and level of cheers. The Kingdom's qualifying rounds are held under the auspices of the General Presidency of Youth Welfare, and Saudi Automobile Federation, and under the sponsorship Chevrolet, Hankook tires and Castrol lubricants. Meanwhile, Ahmed Sadoudi, Chevrolet Marketing Manager of General Motors Middle East Operations, said: “We are pleased to share with Red Bull organizing the Red Bull Car Park Drift 2012 championship. Chevrolet is very keen to develop local talents in general, and in motorsport, in particular.” The final and 3rd round of Kingdom's qualifying tournament will be held at the car parking area of Fouad Center in Al-Khobar on April 19.
