With one of the former Olympic champion set to miss out on Beijing, Britain clinched a spot in Sunday's final. Britain was the only undefeated team after four round-robin matches. It plays Austria on Saturday. India slipped into a tie for second with Austria, although with an unassailable advantage on points difference. India, winner of a record eight Olympic gold medals, must beat Chile to be certain of making the final. Indian penalty corner specialist V.R. Raghunath scored after only three minutes, but Richard Mantell hit the back of the net from Britain's first penalty corner in the 15th and it was still level at halftime. Ten minutes after the restart, Jonty Clarke scored off Mantell's rebound shot and Richard Alexander's pickup for Britain's first lead, but Raghunath notched his second penalty corner goal and tournament-high eighth goal with six minutes left. However, with a minute to go, Britain's Rob Moore came through with the dramatic game-winner off a free hit. Austria posted its third win in four matches defeating winless Mexico 3-1. Michael Korper started and finished the scoring. Mexico's Francisco Aguilar Montoya equalized after 12 minutes and Austria didn't retake the lead until Benjamin Stanzl's field goal in the 55th. Russia won its first game with an upset 2-1 defeat of host Chile. The first goal didn't come until the 48th minute through Evgeny Mokrousov but Alan Stein finally pierced the Russian defense in the 66th to level the score. However, Russia forced a penalty corner straight away, and Austria's Sebastian Kapsch threw a Russian to the ground, conceding a penalty stroke which Dmitry Azarov converted for the winner. In Saturday's other round-robin game, Russia plays Mexico. It is the second of three qualifying events for the 12-team Olympic hockey competition. New Zealand beat Argentina in the final of the first tournament last month. The third is in Japan next month. China, Netherlands, South Korea, Canada, South Africa, Spain, Belarus, Pakistan and Australia have also qualified. __
