Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation is launching a Project Management Academy aimed at training a new generation of skilled project managers who will go on to deliver ambitious urban transport projects across the region. The Academy supports young Saudi engineering or business professionals and recent graduates who are interested in developing a long-term career in project management with Bombardier. The program's content will be aligned with the established and proven Bombardier Project Management System (BPMS) and will include on-the-job training and international assignments at Bombardier sites as well as classroom-based and online tuition. "At the Bombardier Transportation Project Management Academy, successful applicants will have the opportunity to learn from project management specialists. They will benefit from experiencing real life projects in Riyadh and Jeddah through this world leading transportation provider," said Serge Van Themsche, Vice President Europe, Middle East, Africa and Brazil, Systems, Bombardier Transportation. "We believe that this hands-on approach will help the participants to gain long-term employment with Bombardier and they will have the opportunity to work on some of the most prestigious transportation projects in the world." To deliver this postgraduate course, Bombardier will establish links with local universities and work with a specialist training provider. Participants who successfully complete the Academy will be awarded the internationally recognized qualification Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM). This is a valuable entry level certificate for project practitioners and demonstrates fundamental knowledge of terminology and processes of effective project management. Bombardier is aiming to recruit up to 10 aspiring young project managers for its 2012 program and then a further intake of participants in the following years.
