Wozniacki sails smoothly into 3rd round

seeded Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark easily reached the third round of the e-Boks Open Thursday by cruising past Pauline Parmentier of France 6-2, 6-1.
The 21-year old two-time defending champion broke Parmentier twice in the first set and three times in the second. She will face France's Alize Cornet in the next round.
Earlier Thursday, second-seeded Angelique Kerber overcame a sluggish start to beat Britain's Anne Keothavong 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Serbia's Bojana Jovanovski also advanced after defeating Monica Niculescu of Romania 6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-1.
Third-seeded Jelena Jankovic defeated Russia's Yulia Putintseva 6-3, 6-1 while her fellow Serb Bojana Jovanovski pulled off the day's lone upset, defeating fourth-seeded Romanian Monica Niculescu, 6-7 (6-7), 6-4, 6-1. Jankovic will square off with Kaia Kanepi in Friday's quarterfinals, while Jovanovski will take on Petra Martic.
Chardy upsets Mayer
In Casablanca, Jeremy Chardy of France upset top-seeded Florian Mayer of Germany 6-3, 6-1 Thursday in the second round of the Gran Prix Hassan II.
Mayer won just four of 19 points on his second serve and was broken six times by Chardy, who will face Albert Ramos of Spain in the quarterfinals.
The seventh-seeded Ramos defeated Victor Hanescu of Romania 6-2, 6-4. Ramos saved the only break point he faced and broke Hanescu three times to wrap up the win in 1 hour, 22 minutes.
Lopez dumps Lorenzi
In Houston, third-seeded Feliciano Lopez of Spain served four aces in the tiebreaker to overpower Italy's Paolo Lorenzi 6-4, 7-6 (4) Wednesday in the second round of the US Men's Clay Court Championships.
Lopez, ranked No. 15 in the world, played on clay for the first time this year and fell behind 4-1 in the opening set before unleashing his big serve to pull out the set and eventually win the match.
The Spaniard's next opponent will be Argentina's Carlos Berlocq, who cruised past Germany's Bjorn Phau 6-1, 6-0.
In first-round action, South Africa's Kevin Anderson beat Brazil's Joao Souza 6-3, 6-4.
Ryan Harrison of the US boomed 13 aces to upset Alex Bogomolov Jr. of Russia, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
American Bobby Reynolds also eliminated a seeded player, beating No.8 Ivo Karlovic of Croatia 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-3. Reynolds will play compatriot Ryan Sweeting in the second round.
