A father in his 70s testified in a Shariah Court here Wednesday that he killed his 30-year-old son 11 months ago. According to police, the son suffered from a mental illness. The case was initially registered as a suicide based on the testimony of the parents. The Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution in Riyadh sent the case back to the court in Makkah because of conflicting testimonies. The parents had initially claimed that their son had stabbed himself in the neck after they had refused to give him money. The Kakkyia Station police in Makkah found the son dead in a pool of blood. Meanwhile, the General Court in Qatif has dropped murder charges against a 70-year-old man because he was found to be mentally ill.
