spinner Danish Kaneria has pleaded not guilty to the corruption charges leveled by the England and Wales Cricket Board in a letter from his lawyer and sought more time to respond to the accusations. Kaneria was accused in a British court in February of pressuring former Essex teammate Melvyn Westfield into spot-fixing a match. Westfield pleaded guilty and was jailed for four months. Last week, the ECB notified Kaneria and Westfield they are being charged and formed a disciplinary panel led by barrister Gerard Elias. Kaneria's lawyer, Farogh Naseem, wrote to Elias asking for an extension to May 10 to “provide Mr. Kaneria's defense and supporting evidence” after which “the disciplinary hearing may be scheduled.” PCB serious on tour The PCB chairman also said future cricketing ties with Bangladesh will depend on whether it becomes the first Test-playing country to tour since the deadly gunmen attacks in 2009. Zaka Ashraf said: “We will have to reconsider our cricketing relations if they don't come” to play either two One-Day Internationals and a Twenty20 match or three ODIs later this month or in early May.
