Jeddah will host the first scientific conference for the department of economy and management in May. Osama Tayeb, President of King Abdulaziz University, said the conference will discuss different topics related to the local economy. The conference, organized by the university's economy and management department in cooperation with GCC center for research, will be held under the patronage of The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah. The event will take place between May 7 to May 9, 2012. Over 1,000 persons have been invited to the conference. Tayeb said the conference will be attended by major economics experts, members of the shoura council, members of chambers of commerce and professionals from different universities. The event will also attract the private sector and women. Tayeb said that they have selected 34 researches to be addressed at the conference, out of over 100 researches presented to the conference from the Kingdom and abroad. He said the researches have been selected based on scientific measures, adding that their new strategy plan will help organize similar conferences related to engineering, science, economics and medical conferences. The Dean Faculty of Economics & Administration at King Abdulaziz University and the head of the conference, Hussam Al-Angari, said that they have made all the organizational procedures and are planning to have similar conferences in the future. He said they will be exposing successful models of economic examples from inside and outside Saudi Arabia in order to develop the national economy. The conference will highlight the investment opportunities in different sectors in the Kingdom, including industry, tourism and services. Abdul Aziz Al Saqr, chairman of the Gulf Research Center, said the Kingdom has a reliable economy, which has the capability of growth. The Saudi economy, he said, has remained stable during the last four years despite the international and regional crises. He added that the Kingdom has a large number of investment opportunities in different sectors, mainly industry, tourism and services that can provide job opportunities for young Saudis.
