Ebsar Foundation will launch a five-day program entitled “Clinical care for visual impairment” at the Crown Plaza Hotel here, Saturday. The program targets ophthalmologists and specialists working in optics and care of visually impaired persons and the rehabilitation of the visually impaired. The Secretary General of Ebsar Foundation, Mohammed Tawfeeq Bellow, offered his thanks and appreciation to Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz, President of the Arab Gulf Program For Development (AGFUND) and Honorary President of the Ebsar foundation for his unlimited support for the foundation. Bellow welcomed members of the local and international scientific community and participants who include male and female eye specialist doctors and specialists in optics as well as participants from Gulf countries and eye hospitals from various provinces of the Kingdom. He confirmed the importance of such programs in addressing the high incidence of visual impairment in the Kingdom, adding that the program will include an overview of the features of visual impairment and the codification of the patient's medical history, examination, and testing of visual acuity. Several workshops will be held involving the functional testing of visual acuity, visual aids, practical applications, functional effects of eye diseases, simulation of visual dysfunction caused by eye diseases as well as consideration of the techniques and technology support of modern visual impairment. Models of rehabilitation will also be reviewed, in addition to guidance and direction for weak eyesight, orientation and movement. The program concludes with a practical application at the Ebsar Foundation. __
