Saudis most traffic violators, expats pay fines faster JEDDAH/TABUK – A source in the Traffic Administration told “Asharq” Arabic daily that the fines recovered from traffic violations across the Kingdom has hit SR5 billion during the last year. Sixty-four percent of the amount has already been paid. In Jeddah only, the violations reached SR400 million last year, the source pointed out. Riyadh registered the largest rate of traffic violations. He said that expatriates pay fines faster as compared to Saudis who are the ones violating the rules most. “Saher cameras are still being damaged by some young men who do not want to abide by the traffic rules,” he said. “The Traffic Administration arrests anyone who tries to damage the cameras.” Meanwhile, Saher operators in Tabuk refused to work after being threatened by some citizens. Over thirty five Saher operators refused Saturday morning to do any work until their demands were met. They asked for more protection against continued attacks by some citizens. They also asked for medical insurance. Hamid Al-Oqaili, the administrative official in charge, said if workers failed to turn up to their duties, they would lose their jobs. However, workers said that most of them didn't sign any contracts with the Saher company and had been working for months.
