Olayyani, Fahd Al-Riya'i & Faisal Al-Ahmari Okaz/Saudi Gazette LONDON/ABHA – A committee is studying a number of problems concerning scholarship students abroad including increasing their stipends, babysitting allowance, children's education allowance and other matters. President of the Electronic University and former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education for Scholarship Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Al-Mousa, said the ministry has studied 46 pages of evidence supporting increasing the babysitting allowance for scholarship students abroad. In a statement to Okaz/Saudi Gazette at the Career Day for scholarship students in the United Kingdom, he said “the ministry and other authorities are coming up with the best solutions for scholarship students. This problem is not restricted to the Ministry of Higher Education alone, but includes other authorities like the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) regarding fixing the exchange rate.” Al-Mousa denied the existence of any plans to stop sending scholarship students to countries throughout the world. He said sending Saudi students on scholarship to Great Britain or other countries is done according to specific conditions. Any Saudi student who fulfills the conditions will be sent on scholarship to his preferred country. He also denied that there was any intention to stop sending Saudi scholarship students abroad to get their bachelor's degrees. He said “stopping this in a particular university does not mean that the state has stopped it in all universities.” In another development, the Cultural Attaché in the Kingdom's embassy in Malaysia, Dr. Abdul Rahman Muhammad Fusail said medical insurance for Saudi scholarship students in Malaysia is considered to be generous support provided by the government of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, to male and female students. He also expressed his personal pride in the accomplishment of Saudi scholarship students. __
