Dr. Dipu Moni, Minister of Foreign Affairs, addressing a gathering of Bangladeshi community members in Riyadh during her recent visit to the Kingdom.By Abdulaziz Mir Ahigh-level Bangladeshi delegation led by Dr. Dipu Moni, Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited the Kingdom to pay respect and sympathy to the family of late Khalaf Bin Mohammad Salem Al-Ali, a Saudi embassy official who was murdered in Dhaka on March 6. Al-Ali, second secretary at the Saudi embassy, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen around 2 A.M., while he was jogging near his house at Gulshan Diplomatic area in Dhaka. Police rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he died around 5 A.M. Dr. Moni met Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Saudi Foreign Minister, and briefed him on the progress of investigations and assured him that the culprits will be captured. Dr. Moni also suggested and requested to Prince Saud that Saudi experts should come to Dhaka to work with Bangladesh investigation team. Prince Saud welcomed the idea and said his government has full faith and confidence in the commitment of the Bangladesh authorities. During the long dialogue they also discussed issues relating to manpower, trade, mutually beneficial engagement in diplomatic arena. In response to an invitation to visit Bangladesh, Prince Saud expressed his interest in seeing Bangladesh during its “beautiful monsoon”. He also acknowledged the great contribution made by expatriate Bangladeshis in the Kingdom. The meeting was attended by the accompanying delegation of Dr. Moni and Bangladeshi Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohammad Shahidul Islam, and high ranking Saudi officials and Saudi Ambassador to Dhaka Dr. Abdullah N.A.Al Bussairy. Dr. Moni handed over a letter to Prince Saud from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, conveying her condolences on the tragedy. __
